Farmville Chamber Cancels “A Taste of Farmville” Due To Virus

October 21, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Farmville Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center has announced that it will not host “A Taste of Farmville” this year due to the pandemic. At their regularly scheduled September Board meeting, the group voted to cancel the traditional event for 2020 in order to adhere to current state requirements and to avoid the risks associated with large gatherings.

“The ‘Taste of Farmville’ is one of the town’s most popular events but this year we will not be able to hold it due to COVID-19,” says Lori Drake, the Executive Director of the Farmville Chamber of Commerce.

Last year more than 30 businesses on Main Street, East and West Wilson Street and Contentnea Street participated in the event, which is designed to celebrate the Christmas season with live entertainment, carriage rides and holiday treats.

“As a vibrant community that supports the arts, “A Taste of Farmville” is a wonderful event for our town but it is necessary that we cancel this year to ensure the health and safety of our community residents and visitors,” said Drake. “We look forward to the future when we will be able to again hold this popular event.”
