about us . . .

Embracing progress while holding on to small town values makes Farmville a great place to live, work and grow. Known as the "friendliest little town in the state" in the 1920's, Farmville carries on that legacy today.

Our town has grown and changed with the times, blossoming into a community with a strong diversified economy that includes business, industry and agriculture. Located on the Raleigh-Greenville Corridor, Farmville is the second largest employer in Pitt County. It also is home to many medical professionals who enjoy the ten-minute commute to Pitt County Memorial Hospital and the ECU Brody School of Medicine.

Farmville's Central Business District features businesses that have been on Main Street for more than 100 years, like Farmville Furniture Company and Farmville Hardware, and many newer ones such as MyleStone Gallery & Wine, Woodside Antiques, and Williams Jewelry.

Modern musicals, like "Chicago" and "Ragtime" grace the stage of the historic Paramount Theatre. Historic homes and modern houses coexist and stand as a testament to the town's determination to preserve its past while pursuing its future.

With the founding of the PItt County Female Institute in the mid 1800's, Farmville took a lead in providing excellence in education. Our unique four-school campus, which provides shared resources and a quality education environment for grades K-12, is at the forefront of the nationwide movement to create "neighborhood schools."
